Problem

PR #1409 for #1402 is green, but after #1410 merged, the branch cannot be updated from main through the Forgejo PR update endpoint:

coilyco-flight-deck/ward#1409 "Repair failed release run after PR #1401" head 49eeb7b140b62a5142806a8fd77d08fde87688d0 combined status: success
ward ops forgejo pr update ... 409 Conflict: {"message":"merge failed because of conflict"}

Changed files in #1409 overlap the release repair surface: .forgejo/workflows/release.yml, docs/release.md, and scripts/release_contract_test.go. The carried issue #1402 remains open until #1409 lands or is superseded.

Acceptance

  • Recover the #1409 release repair without losing the intent of #1402.
  • Resolve the conflict against current main after #1410.
  • Land the resulting PR with green checks, or close/supersede #1409 only if the current main already satisfies #1402 with evidence.
  • Leave final evidence for the release path status.

Related: #1402, #1403, #1409, #1410.

WARDED_WORKFLOW: reservation-held

reservation details

Holder: launch intent for container engineer-codex-ward-1411 on host kais-macbook-pro-2.local.

Accepted by ward agent --harness codex (reserved 2026-07-15T11:38:59Z). Concurrent ward agent runs are blocked until this intent becomes visible or the intent is released. The stale-intent fallback is still TTL-bounded (3h TTL). --override-reservation overrides.

Do not comment on or edit this issue to steer the run while it is reserved. The engineer seeded the body once at launch and never re-reads it, so a comment or edit reaches only human readers, never the running engineer. A correction goes to a new issue, dispatched fresh. That is the only channel that reaches a run in flight. Where the forge supports it, ward locks this conversation to make that a road-block rather than a convention (ward#494).

run seed context — what this run is carrying (ward#609)
  • Resolved: coilyco-flight-deck/ward#1411 · branch issue-1411 · harness codex · workflow pull-request-and-merge
  • Run: engineer-codex-ward-1411 · ward v0.710.0 · dispatched 2026-07-15T11:38:52Z
  • Comment thread: 0 included in the pre-flight read, 0 stripped (ward's own automated comments).

Static container doctrine and seed boilerplate are identical every run and omitted here (they ride ward v0.710.0).

SUPSERSEDED: PR #1415 was closed because PR #1414 already landed the #1402 recovery on current main. Direct tree comparison after #1414 showed #1415 only reworded docs/comments and reordered test assertions, with no required behavior left. Closing this duplicate recovery issue in favor of #1414 and the remaining release blocker #1412.
