Pulled into the launch milestone during triage: the demo (#250/#251) and #453's minimal example spec bundle both want this repo to exist as their anchor. Headless: agent scaffolds the toy repo (Makefile + .ward/ward.yaml incl. a security: block per #450's new requirement). Recorded by Claude Code (Fable) during the 2026-07-01 ward launch triage session with Kai.

🔒 Reserved by ward agent --driver claude — container engineer-claude-ward-463 on host kais-macbook-pro-2.local is carrying this issue (reserved 2026-07-02T03:07:28Z). Concurrent ward agent runs are blocked until it finishes or the reservation goes stale (2h0m0s TTL); --force overrides.

WARD-OUTCOME: done - toy/example repo (examples/toy + examples/ward-specs) already scaffolded and landed on main; verified coherent and functional.

Honest retrospective: this one was mostly a verification job, not a build. When I opened the clone the toy repo was already fully scaffolded and its commits (the examples/toy scaffold, the ward-specs bundle, the cross-links) were already sitting on origin/main, with issue-463 pointing at the exact same commit as main - 0 ahead, 0 behind. A prior container clearly carried this end to end before me (the thread shows several back-to-back reservations), so there was nothing to implement, commit, or push.

What surprised me was landing on a closed issue with the work already done - the honest move was to resist inventing fresh scope for an empty-bodied issue and instead confirm the existing result holds. It does: the security: block per #450 is present, the KDL guardfile and dev-base image doc the first comment asked for are both there, every cross-referenced doc (example-repo.md, container-image.md, ward-kdl-authoring.md) exists, dead-cross-links passes, and the toy CLI builds/tests/vets clean end to end (make build/test/vet all green, greet prints 'hello, ward').

Confidence is high that the feature is complete and correct. One rough edge worth noting, not filing: this issue is prone to duplicate dispatch - it was reserved and re-run several times after already landing. If that pattern keeps costing container time, a pre-dispatch 'is this already on main / already closed' guard in the director loop would pay for itself.
