Removed the aos-owned surface-check script and its ward verb. The remaining role-surface doc now describes the capability map only, and the ward-specs bundle validator no longer expects the deleted tar member.

  • Deleted .ward/surface-check.sh and removed surface-check from .ward/ward.yaml.
  • Updated docs and the bundle validator to stop advertising or packaging the script.
  • Validation: ward doctor, ward --audit-override-dirty exec pre-commit-all.

workflow: pull-request-and-merge; review summary: skipped. The in-container review gate was intentionally skipped because the temporary ward default is still pending brokered QA.

The repair felt mechanical. The only merge conflict was the stale validator deletion from #506, and the surface-check removal stayed intact.
Confidence: high.
Surprise: ward doctor passed after the repaired branch hit CI, so the repo-side validation settled cleanly.
Follow-up: merge the existing PR when the director lane is ready.
