fix(skills): Ward is archived after all, superseding the #1299 freeze #1327

coilyco-ops merged 1 commit from aos/claude/fp87-ward-posture into main 2026-08-27 10:19:03 +00:00
Owner

Refs #1299. Follows #1326.

#1326 landed saying Ward is frozen as a contract and that frozen is not deleted. Both sentences were accurate against the tracked record at the time and are not accurate against the decision. Kai superseded #1299's freeze-rather-than-archive posture on 2026-08-27, and the supersession is recorded on that issue rather than only here.

Two paragraphs, two lines of diff.

  • The opening now says Ward is being archived, with #1299's runtime cut as the step that precedes it.
  • The provenance note changes shape rather than disappearing, because what it guards against got more likely rather than less. .ward/ward.yaml and the ward: frontmatter key are read by the catalog hooks and by composition, never by a Ward process, so archiving the repository retires neither. A reader meeting this skill after the archive would otherwise assume the schema and the lane vocabulary went with the runtime.

The 52 patterns are untouched, which is the point of having separated them from the posture in the first place.

Why a second PR rather than a third commit on the first

#1326 was merged while this correction was being written, so the branch it was on no longer had a path to main. This is that same commit, rebuilt on current main as a two-line diff.

Validation

pre-commit passes on the changed file. The description stays at 460 bytes against the 500 cap.

Two paragraphs change. The opening says Ward is being archived, with #1299's
runtime cut as the step that precedes it. The provenance note changes shape
rather than disappearing, because what it guards against got more likely rather
than less: `.ward/ward.yaml` and the `ward:` frontmatter key are read by the

repository retires neither. A reader meeting this skill after the archive would

the posture in the first place.
