Symptom
caddy.servicefails on boot of kai-server.Service runs as user
caddy(HOME=/var/lib/caddy)./etc/caddy/Caddyfileis not readable by that user. Likely a file-mode/ownership regression. Reproduced on uptime ~2 min post fresh boot 2026-05-18.Next
Check
stat /etc/caddy/Caddyfileand either chown caddy:caddy or chmod 644 (whichever matches the rest of the deploy).
