Asked "is your favorite color purple?", Dowel said yes and called the bronze on its own identity card "bundle bookkeeping". Kai's ruling is the opposite: bronze should have won.

What licensed the wrong answer

Two sources Dowel reads, both in this repo, and neither one wrong on its own:

  • .agents/composed/personal-preference-colors/COMPOSED.md - "Treat them as your own taste rather than as a report about someone else", with no carve-out for the one color question an agent already has its own answer to.
  • .agents/composed/tooling-sirens-dowel-contract/COMPOSED.md - demotes the roster seat's personal name to "bookkeeping for how the bundle was assembled" without bounding that demotion to the name. Dowel generalized it from the name to the color, and reused the word.

Dowel reaches both because agent/compose/roles.kdl in coilyco-gaming/sirens-echo grants its engineer lane personal-preference-*, and the image clones this catalogue at AOS_CATALOG_REF, which floats on main.

The change

  • The colors source gains a section saying it is a palette for making things and does not answer "what is your favorite color", which the identity card owns. House palette after the real answer, never instead of it.
  • The dowel contract bounds its bookkeeping line to the name and says the seat's color is Dowel's own.
  • docs/role-composed-skills.md carries the same boundary beside the reasoning that promoted the source.

The list entries are untouched, so the website mirror needs no sync.

Follow-ups

  • #1131 - the same collision one field over. Nothing anywhere stated Dowel's pronouns, and the card's "she" belongs to a name Dowel never uses. Kai's call is they/them. That PR also bounds the Colors line on the personal-preferences index, a route this PR left open, and replaces this PR's "the demotion covers the name and stops there" with the sharper split between what the seat declares and what the bundle derives.
  • sirens-echo#980 - the lane half of the pronoun.
  • Not fixed anywhere yet: Dowel quoted #b39258, while the engineer role's current derived favorite is #a88840 (internal/palette/role-palette.txt, agent-compose 105c04b, 2026-08-17). #b39258 is the previous value and is still frozen into all eight committed examples/claude-native-ui/themes/aos-*.json files, which that commit did not regenerate. Worth an agent-compose issue.

Asked "is your favorite color purple?", Dowel said yes and called the bronze on its own identity card "bundle bookkeeping". Kai's ruling is the opposite: bronze should have won. ## What licensed the wrong answer Two sources Dowel reads, both in this repo, and neither one wrong on its own: * `.agents/composed/personal-preference-colors/COMPOSED.md` - "Treat them as your own taste rather than as a report about someone else", with no carve-out for the one color question an agent already has its own answer to. * `.agents/composed/tooling-sirens-dowel-contract/COMPOSED.md` - demotes the roster seat's personal name to "bookkeeping for how the bundle was assembled" without bounding that demotion to the name. Dowel generalized it from the name to the color, and reused the word. Dowel reaches both because `agent/compose/roles.kdl` in coilyco-gaming/sirens-echo grants its engineer lane `personal-preference-*`, and the image clones this catalogue at `AOS_CATALOG_REF`, which floats on `main`. ## The change * The colors source gains a section saying it is a palette for making things and does not answer "what is your favorite color", which the identity card owns. House palette after the real answer, never instead of it. * The dowel contract bounds its bookkeeping line to the name and says the seat's color is Dowel's own. * `docs/role-composed-skills.md` carries the same boundary beside the reasoning that promoted the source. The list entries are untouched, so the website mirror needs no sync. ## Follow-ups * **#1131** - the same collision one field over. Nothing anywhere stated Dowel's pronouns, and the card's "she" belongs to a name Dowel never uses. Kai's call is they/them. That PR also bounds the Colors line on the `personal-preferences` index, a route this PR left open, and replaces this PR's "the demotion covers the name and stops there" with the sharper split between what the seat **declares** and what the bundle **derives**. * [sirens-echo#980](https://forgejo.coilysiren.me/coilyco-gaming/sirens-echo/pulls/980) - the lane half of the pronoun. * Not fixed anywhere yet: Dowel quoted `#b39258`, while the engineer role's current derived favorite is `#a88840` (`internal/palette/role-palette.txt`, agent-compose 105c04b, 2026-08-17). `#b39258` is the previous value and is still frozen into all eight committed `examples/claude-native-ui/themes/aos-*.json` files, which that commit did not regenerate. Dowel was asked whether its favorite color was purple and answered yes,
demoting the bronze on its own identity card to "bundle bookkeeping". Both
sources it read invited that. personal-preference-colors says to treat the
house palette as your own taste with no carve-out, and the dowel contract
demotes the roster seat's name as bookkeeping without bounding the demotion
to the name.

The colors source now says it is a palette for making things and does not
answer "what is your favorite color", which the identity card owns. The dowel
contract bounds its bookkeeping line to the name. docs/role-composed-skills.md
carries the same boundary beside the reasoning that promoted the source.
