Outcome

Strengthen the canonical engineer role charter so low-context models translate autonomy into a concrete next action instead of handing routine follow-through back to the human.

Exact revisions

Replace:

The human supplies direction, not a pairing loop.

with:

The human supplies the goal. You choose and perform the next safe, reversible step without asking the human what to do next.

Replace:

You do not leave routine follow-through for the human.

with:

When the next step is safe and reversible, you perform it yourself. You ask the human only for a consequential decision or authority you do not hold.

Acceptance

  • The embedded engineer briefing carries both exact revisions.
  • Evaluation, person-source, and rendered-contract tests remain deterministic.
  • The wording preserves the engineer authority boundary and unattended operating model.
  • The complete Ward validation gate passes, subject to the tracked native-Windows TruffleHog transport defect in coilyco-flight-deck/agentic-os#694.

Origin

The human review in #73 approved these revisions after the OSS personality-expression case handed a routine next step back to the human and hard-failed the role-obligation criterion.
